RED Grants Round 9 opens for Pilbara businesses

Pilbara businesses and regional organisations planning their next stage of growth can now apply for Round 9 of the Regional Economic Development (RED) Grants program.

Up to $5 million is available across Western Australia, including more than $550,000 for projects in the Pilbara. The program supports projects that strengthen regional economies and create sustainable employment.

Delivered locally by the Pilbara Development Commission, with support from the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, the grants provide an opportunity to turn business plans into practical outcomes for our region.

What projects can be supported?

Eligible projects must contribute to one or more of the following:

• Sustainable jobs
• Industry expansion or diversification
• Skills development
• Improved business productivity
• New investment

Projects must also support regional priorities, including economic prosperity or Aboriginal economic participation.

For businesses considering expanding operations, introducing new technology or developing industry capability, the program could help support the next step.

Applications close Thursday, 14 January 2027.

Attend a free information session

The Pilbara Development Commission’s economic development team is holding free information sessions across the region to explain the program and answer questions about the application process.

The Karratha session will run from 10–11 am at The Quarter Conference Room, Level 2, 20 Sharpe Avenue.

Attending a session is a useful first step to understand whether your project aligns with the program and what you’ll need to prepare.
